Lokuge comes from a family of artists. Born in Sri Lanka he spent much of his childhood in the Maldives, which was a perfect environment to nurture his talent and love for art. he trained formally for over 10 years studying the techniques of art. During his later years, he had the honor of studying design at the mit media lab under prof. muriel cooper who was a co-founder of mit’s meida lab and instilled a bauhaus style of design which also influences his more recent works of art.
lokuge has been painting and exhibiting his work for over 30 years starting at a very young age. he has won multiple awards and his work has been represented in prestigious galleries. his work was featured in the sunset magazine idea house as part of a modern interior design concept home. over the years, his work is also collected by several private collectors.
